On the Web (recommended)
- Click Found A Pet in the top middle of the screen
- Click Upload a Picture to navigate to an existing photo
- Manipulate the square so that it is over only the animal's face and click Next
- Identify the Location the animal was found by adding the Zip Code or clicking on the pin to move it, click Search.
- Based on a scan of the photo, Possible Matches posted in the area will display
- Click on an image to view information about the lost pet. Click Contact to view contact information for the Possible Match.
- We recommend that all methods of connecting are used (phone, email etc.)
On the App
- Tap Report! in the bottom middle of the screen
- Tap Found
- To upload an existing photo, tap on the photo boxes (bottom right); to take a new photo, use the Bark Button (bottom left) to get the dog's/cat's attention, then tap the Photo Button. Make sure to focus on the animal's face.
- To retake the photo, click Back in the top left corner
Adjust the photo
- Tap on the photo to move it so that the eyes are lined up with the line across
- Tap Next in the top right corner, the photo will then be scanned
Location
- Identify the location the animal was found by tapping the Pin to move it
- Use the + and / or - zoom controls in the bottom right to see more or less of the map
- Tap any part of the map to move it to a different location to view
- Tap Next in the top right hand corner
Enter details
- Pet Type: Select the type of animal you have found
- Email Address: Your email address will default based on your username for your account - change this if needed
- Date you found this pet: Enter the actual date the dog/cat was found - tap to change
- About: Enter any additional information that will help (distinguishing features, gender, collar description, temperament, date/time found, etc.)
- Tap Done in the top right corner - the photo will be auto scanned
Search
- Based on a scan of the photo, Possible Matches posted by other Finding Rover members in the area will display
Matches
- If a lost report is located that could be the same dog/cat, tap on the photo of the Possible Match to open the profile
- Tap Match? to link the records together FIRST
- Tap Create Match (this will now show on your Home page)
- The Possible Match record will display at the bottom of the screen (scroll down)
- This will display the Possible Match record on the possible owner's Home page that they will see the next time they access their account
Make Contact
We recommend that all methods of connecting are used
- Tap Email to contact through YOUR email service (Outlook, Gmail, etc.)
- Enter a message in the Message box at the bottom and tap Send
